Five organizations to receive 20% of sales revenue March 4-9, 2013
Ten Thousand Villages is celebrating International Women’s Day with a week of benefit sales for five organizations that serve women, and will also host Girl Scout troops that will be selling cookies on site at the Ten Thousand Villages St. Paul store location.
What: Each evening, from 5-8 p.m., 20 percent of Ten Thousand Villages St. Paul store sales during that time will be donated to that day’s corresponding organization. Plus, a different Girl Scout troop will be selling cookies each evening from 5-8 p.m.
Why: Helping women helps communities. Every item purchased at Ten Thousand Villages helps provide vital, fair income to artisans and their families. Artisans’ work also improves the economic vitality of their communities. Multiply this by tens of thousands of artisans and you can understand the global impact of Ten Thousand Villages.
Monday, March 4:
Benefit organization: Breaking Free– serving women coming out of prostitution.
Girl Scout cookie sales from 5-8 p.m.
Tuesday, March 5:
Benefit organization: Maternal Outcomes Matter– improving maternal and child health through raising awareness about the state of maternity care both locally and internationally. Girl Scout cookie sales from 5-8 p.m.
Wednesday, March 6: Benefit Organization: Sarah’s Oasis -- providing hospitality for women in transition who are seeking housing, community and safety.

Thursday, March 7: Benefit organization:American Refugee Committee (ARC) -- providing opportunities and expertise to refugees, displaced people and host communities. Girl Scout cookie sales from 5-8 p.m.
Friday, March 8: Benefit Organization: Family Tree Clinic -- a nonprofit health clinic dedicated to cultivating a healthy community through comprehensive health care and education.
- In support of International Women’s Day programming on radio station KFAI FM Radio 90.3, the store will replace it’s usual background music with KFAI’s broadcast for the entire day.
